I’m a futurist, a conservationist, and an advocate for sustainable living. In the chaos of this world, the best we can do is live with as much resilience as possible.
Be prepared personally, financially, and maintain your personal environment.
I look at trends to anticipate what may happen in the future. The question before us all is “How do I want to live my life?” It’s a question I ask myself every morning when I wake up.
The answer is based on my values, my important goals, and what happened yesterday.
My ToDo list is overwhelming. Often I cannot decide how best to spend my time, so I just read or play solitaire. Its called procrastination. Procrastination can be good or bad. When I’m playing a game, I’m wasting my time. When I’m reading I’m getting ideas for what I want to write about. I’m writing this article because I had an inspiration from something I read. I’m procrastinating, but that isn’t always a bad thing unless my procrastination interferes with getting something done that has a tight deadline.
I have set up a task list for each area of my life. Once a week, I look at each of my projects to see what I must accomplish this week. Those things are blocked out on my paper calendar. Because I worked a night shift for three years, I’m having trouble getting back on a daytime work schedule. I never know when I will need to sleep. When I wake up for my work day I ask myself the question and schedule a couple of hours to work on my most important thing. If I’m in the flow, I don’t let anything stop me except scheduled appointments that have to be kept.
In Conclusion
If your todo list is overwhelming, focus on tasks, not todos. I will peel away all tasks until I am left with things that must be done and 2-3 tasks that are the most important things I need to do. When I complete those tasks, I’ll pick three more tasks too work on.
I keep a pen and paper based bullet journal. I like the feel of pen on paper and I seem to think better when I have a paper record. I use Day One for my digital journal, Tick Tick for my Digital Task Manager and Drafts for my Personal Knowledge Manager. I’m Experimenting with Legend which is supposed to bring ever thing together under the Legendary Roof.
As I said in the beginning, I’m building a new life. I need to be organized in order to use what time I have left effectively. I have two goals:
1. To help people live more sustainably
2. To build an Internet marketing business that will provide a retirement income for my daughter.
